When we have medical problems or other health-related conditions,
illnesses, or injuries about our abilities to move and functional
activities to perform are limited we'd go to physical
therapists examining each individual and developing a plan using
treatment techniques that touch upon back and neck injuries,
sprains/strains and fractures, arthritis, burns, amputations, stroke,
multiple sclerosis, conditions such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida,
and injuries related to work and sports. So, physical therapy
is claimed to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore
function, and prevent disability and the loss of mobility before it
occurs
by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and
more active lifestyles.
One of specialized forms of physical therapy is manual physical therapy
delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine to put
pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to
decrease back pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension and joint
dysfunction. It supposes soft tissue work, including massage, which
helps relax muscles, increase circulation, break up scar tissue, and
ease pain in the soft tissues, and mobilization/manipulation, which
uses measured movements of varying speed (slow to fast), force (gentle
to forceful), and distances (called "amplitude") to
twist, pull, or push bones and joints into position.
Healing and recovering from injury or disease are the goal of physical
therapy exercises. Stretching and strengthening activities, balance,
joint control, and muscle re-training are types of important physical
therapy exercises. Among them there is single leg stance for improving
balance deficits, endurance exercises increasing respiratory and heart
rate, exercises after hip replacement, post operative shoulder
rehabilitation program, toe, the straight leg raises, leg strengthening
exercises etc.
